The Milimani Environment and Land Court Users Committee is here today, together with the Legal Resources Foundation, to launch the Compendium of Jurisprudence emanating from decisions on climate justice in Kenya. We had a good turnout of stakeholders who came to join us.
This compendium is important for sharing information with Kenyans about the work we have done on climate justice, as well as the work that still needs to be done to address the many emerging issues in this space.
It will greatly support us in our work as judges, serving as a valuable reference material in cases related to environment and land. We are very grateful to the Legal Resources Foundation and its partners for publishing this important document.
Given the nature of our work, we sometimes write decisions and later do not recall all the case details—this compendium makes it much easier for us to access relevant information. I have reviewed it, and I am pleased to see that it includes information from other jurisdictions, such as India.
I am confident that the compendium will be a valuable resource in our work. It will also be useful to those accessing it online—legal practitioners, the Attorney General’s office, and everyone working in the climate justice sector will find it immensely helpful.
I highly recommend that you get a copy, which will be made available online. You can also contact the Legal Resources Foundation to obtain a physical copy.
This compendium is a must-read.
